Production: Improving my radio show

I listened to my radio show and picked out all the things i think i can improve on:

  • Pauses are too long there is too much dead time
  • Michael Harvey is too loud
  • Fix sound level
  • More jingles needed
  • Re film 'how has everyone's weeks been', - need to say it friday
  • Change bed for different segments. drum beat only at vox pot
  • Speed up intro way more
  • Change of bed back to studio
  • Applause for Dollondon
  • Cut out song
The sound level is very mixed and you can see from this chart how the volume changes so drastically.
This is one of the most important problems with the show that I have found, so I need to adapt the volume of all clips so they are of a more similar volume.

Production: Features on my Webpage

There is a section on my website which is named 'Features'. It represents a style similar to blog posts. These are what each of my Features consist of.:

Elrow Festival in Pictures:
For this post, I created a picture collage featuring some celebrities and the scenes of the festivals. Elektra, the host is included in this.

Waste and Garbage at Festivals:
For this post, i wrote an article advising the viewers and my audience about waste and garbage at festivals. It read like the following:

Meet up with Dollondon:
In this feature, I touched on the meet up that occurred in my radio segment with famous singer Dollondon. I wrote a brief summary of what happened as well as a feature of the radio show.

Olympian Sam Bennett's Workout Playlist:
For this feature, I interviewed the talented athlete Sam Bennett and he reflected upon music's impact to his success in sports. I also embedded Sam's playlist that he suggests for workouts, for the audience to accessibly use. The article read the following:

Festival Chats with Michael Harvey:
In this post, I video interviewed with legendary Michael Harvey, ex-musician and now owner / founder of Rize festival. I filmed our interviewed and embedded the link for it in the feature, aswell as briefing the occurrences.

Calvin Harris' New Playlist:
For my final feature that i have made for the website, I simply linked and embedded a link to a playlist I made inspired by Calvin Harris.

Production: Creating my webpage

LOGO:

I have created a yellow lightning bolt to connote the electricity of the brand. I have outlined it in white to make it contrast to the busy backgrounds that I want to include in my webpage design.

HOME PAGE:

I have used a bold photo of Annie Mac performing at Reading Festival. It is bright and stands out. I have featured the title and motto 'Welcome to the prime of music.' Using a bold black font, the title is bold. The head bar has direct links to other pages on the webpage as well as the radio schedule and logo. I have added two links to the BBC radio 1 website to act as 'listen now' links. One is disguised as a speaker logo and the other is a simple, 'play now' button.

ELEKTRA'S PAGE:

I have featured a page dedicated towards Elektra and what she is up to this week, as well as her friends. This is an interesting page for fans and audience of  Elektra who would want a closer insight into what she's doing.

LISTEN PAGE:

I wanted to create a really bright, intense page that threw lots of information into one section. The listen page shows you where you can listen to the music magazine as well as when. It also features direct links to download the bbc radio app. I created some playlists on Spotify specifically for the show which i have linked here and displayed lots of web address for various, related pages. This page features social media links for audiences to explore and follow the social medias of BBC radio 1 and Electric Noise.

FEATURES PAGE:

This was my favourite page to create as I could do some writing as well as filming. This page includes different articles, like a blog, of stories that my audience would be interested in. The first of my articles is Elrow Festival in Pictures where I made a collage of some festival pictures, some including Elektra and her friends. I also wrote an article called Waste and Garbage at Festivals which allowed me to explore the problems of plastic at big events. I included my interview with Dollondon in this section. Another article I wrote was about Olympian Sam Bennett who I interviewed discussing his athletic and music journey. He made a playlist for the Electric Noise Spotify account. I was able to shoot, film and edit an interview with Michael Harvey who is the founder of Rize Festival and we discussed eco-friendly aspects to festivals. And finally, I embedded a playlist 'made' by Calvin Harris.

CONTACT:

I also added a contacts area to the bottom of my webpage to give the audience social media links, a message box and the addresses and contact details of Electric Noise. This allows for the audience to easily get in contact with the radio.

Production: Editing the show

I am using the Garage Band Software to edit my footage. I have cropped my recordings and added background music, as well as stingers and my jingle. Here are some screenshots of my first edit of my show.
